Jay Dobyns, geb. 1961, ehemaliger Footballspieler und Absolvent der University of Arizona, erlangte Bekanntheit, nachdem er zwei Jahre als Undercoveragent für die ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; verantwortlich bei unerlaubtem Gebrauch und Besitz von Schusswaffen) in den Kreisen der US-amerikanischen Hells Angels ermittelt hatte. Heute ist er als Berater und Vortragsredner tätig. Jay Dobyns ist verheiratet und hat zwei Kinder.
